Anas’ video: Football will be the biggest beneficiary – Fianoo

The President of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Cudjoe Fianoo is hopeful the yet-to-be premiered investigative piece on Ghana football under the auspices of Tiger Eye PI will resuscitate the game.

His comments come on the back of an order to the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service by President Akufo-Addo to arrest the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for allegedly using his name to swindle investors.

Kwesi Nyantakyi is alleged to have demanded whopping sums of money from the potential investors to facilitate their meeting with the president, the Vice and other senior government officials. The video will be released on June 6, 2018.

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed it is investigating Nyantakyi in a statement over the allegations following “a complaint received from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that Mr. Nyantakyi has used the President’s name and office fraudulently.”

“Police information shows that the suspect is presently outside of the jurisdiction and is expected to return on Wednesday 23rd May, 2018 whereupon he would be required to assist with the ongoing investigation,” the statement signed by Director of Public Affairs Sheila Abayie-Buckman added.

Commenting on the development on Starr Today Tuesday Mr Fianoo said the yet-to-be premiered investigative piece from the staples of ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas may be the saviour of Ghana football.

For years there were cries about the dwindling quality of the game in the West African country which the leadership of the GFA and others have ignored.

“I don’t know the dimension, the scope of the investigation,” he told Starr Today’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson.

“But, I will look at it from the positive side that I think it is time for us to look at our game again and take steps to revive it. It could be the turning point and I think that if what the president has done is in the interest of this country, I think that football will be the biggest beneficiary,” he added.
