“As the officers approached the hideout, the suspects mistook them for potential victims and opened fire. The police returned fire in self-defence, resulting in the death of one suspect. The remaining five, including the gang leader, Mahamadu Fuseini, also known as Shaini, fled the scene,” the statement fron the police read in part.
According to the police, a pump-action shotgun loaded with four live cartridges, two spent cartridges, and three assorted keypad mobile phones were recovered from the location.
“Two additional live cartridges were found in the pocket of the deceased suspect, along with a talisman tied around his waist,” the statement added.
