One more suspect has been arrested in connection with the heinous Asiakwa assault and murder of a teacher of Salvation Army Basic School in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region, bringing the number of suspects to five.
The suspect, Ezekiel Boadu, 19, was arrested in Accra upon police intelligence.
He will be arraigned in court Thursday for charges of conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
Meanwhile, the police are pursuing to arrest the last suspect who is said to be on the run.
Boadu’s arrest comes days after four of his accomplices; Richard Amaning, 18, Mireku Emmanuel, 17, Philip Okodie, 17, and Paul Boadu,18 were on May 7, 2019, remanded into police custody by the Kibi District Magistrate Court to reappear in Court on May 14, 2019.
The 55-year-old deceased teacher, George Somuah Bosompem was brutally assaulted by the six teenagers for protesting against smoking of wee and defecation in the school, losing his life in the process.
The incident led to the closure of all public schools in the Community.
A public durbar being participated by the Ghana National Association of Teacher (GNAT), police, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, traditional rulers, parents and the youth is underway in the Asiakwa community to resolve the impasse.
The durbar coincided with the celebration of the Global Action week by the Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC).
Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin has also sent a delegation to the community aimed at finding a solution to the impasse.
