Asuogyaman MP dedicates part of common fund for maintenance and renovations, GES Office latest to get a facelift

The Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has dedicated a portion of his Common Fund to the maintenance and renovation of public infrastructure for long-term benefits and cost savings.

This initiative is part of the MP’s broader strategy to maintain essential facilities rather than allowing them to degrade.

He said inadequate maintenance significantly increases long-term costs while decreasing the benefits of infrastructure but on the contrary, regular upkeep is seen as a more cost-effective solution compared to the expensive process of major rehabilitations.

The latest beneficiary of the MP’s commitment is the Asuogyaman District Education Office, which had gone decades without any renovations. Before the facelift, the building had visible cracks, peeling paint, broken ceilings, and a dilapidated washroom.

“I have committed part of my resources to renovate existing structures and so as you have seen over the last couple of months I have been commissioning projects that I have renovated in various parts of the constituency. Although I have started new projects and commissioned projects I started from scratch,I am on the greatest conviction that it does not make sense that we allow infrastructure that we have already completed in previous years to rot and every year use resources to provide new infrastructure”.Said Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko

The MP added that ” I think in order to prolong the life span of most of these facilities, periodic maintenance is key. Unfortunately that is not something we are used to but I have decided that I will lead the way in Asuogyaman to periodically renovate existing structures so that they will last longer”.

In addition to the renovation, the MP donated 43 inch LED flat screen television set , and modern book cupboard.

District Education Director, Augustina Adjoa Owusu, expressed her appreciation, noting that the upgraded facility provides a more refreshing and productive working environment.

“The district office was in a very poor state. There were cracks in the building, the ceilings some were broken some were taken off. Some of floor were not welcoming but MP came in to support and today we are seeing a very good facelift that befits office of a Directorate because we promote education in the Directorate. If we want to improve upon teaching and learning and also uplift performances then we need to be comfortable as officers, have very befitting area as an office which will also make it comfortable enough to provide our maximum best”.

The District Education Director also praised the MP for his investments in education, which include constructing new classroom blocks, renovating existing ones, building teachers bungalow and providing essential teaching and learning materials.

Akwamu Nifahene and Chief of Senchi Nana Offei Aggrmang II,also commended the MP for his judicious use of the 5% share of the Common Fund in undertaking various developmental projects across the constituency.
