The BR Institute has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) to expand entrepreneurship training, innovation, and industry collaboration for students.
The agreement, signed on Monday, July 6, 2026, positions the BR Institute at the forefront of efforts to bridge the gap between academia and the entrepreneurial ecosystem by equipping young people with practical business skills, mentorship, and access to industry networks.
Founded by media and business mogul Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, the BR Institute has gained recognition for disrupting traditional entrepreneurship education through its flagship “Entrepreneurship with Bola Ray” program, a 20-week hands-on training initiative that combines business development, mentorship and real-world market exposure.
The partnership with UPSA is expected to extend that impact by creating new opportunities for university students to transform innovative ideas into commercially viable businesses while developing the mindset required to thrive in today’s competitive economy.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both institutions. The UPSA delegation was led by Vice-Chancellor Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, accompanied by Mrs Lorraine Gyan, Professor Samuel Antwi and Dr Akushika Andoh. BR Institute was represented by its founder, Bola Ray, and Mr Alex Brown.
Speaking during the signing, Professor Mawutor praised the collaboration, describing entrepreneurship as an essential pillar of modern higher education.
He noted that students must be encouraged to move beyond seeking traditional employment and instead develop the confidence and skills to identify opportunities, build innovative solutions, and create sustainable businesses.
For the BR Institute, the partnership reinforces its commitment to providing practical entrepreneurship education that goes beyond the classroom. Through mentorship, industry engagement, and experiential learning, the institute has positioned itself as a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to build scalable and impactful businesses.
As part of the agreement, the BR Institute will collaborate with UPSA on the upcoming UPSA-1000 initiative, a flagship program under the Ghana Entrepreneurship Conference.
The initiative will bring together students, entrepreneurs, investors, corporate leaders, and other stakeholders to showcase innovative business ideas, facilitate investment opportunities, and strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.
The partnership is also expected to create pathways for mentorship, entrepreneurship funding, business incubation, and industry exposure, enabling students from diverse academic backgrounds to develop practical solutions to real-world challenges.
