Former Roads minister Inusah Fuseini has said the Minority Chief Whip Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak is not being forthright in the bribery scandal that has rocked Parliament.
According to the Tamale Central MP, the Asawase lawmaker looked worried when he interacted with him over the scandal.
He said Alhaji Mubarak appears to be more interested in protecting the image of the Chamber than dealing with the rot.
Mr. Mubarak has sworn by the Quran that he never gave monies to the minority caucus on the appointments committee, as has been alleged by the Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga.
Mr Ayariga claims the minority chief whip gave GHC3000 each to the minority members on the committee as monies he received from the chairman of the committee in order to approve the then Energy minister-designate, Boakye Agyarko, following his vetting.
The now Energy minister, chairman of the committee and the minority chief whip have all denied the claim.
Commenting on the matter, Mr. Fuseini said the issue needs further probing by parliament.
“When I spoke to him, I realized he is worried. He feels that the integrity of Parliament is more important than uncovering the rot.
“He places the integrity of Parliament higher and would rather cover up, I don’t think he was being candid,” he told Joy FM.
