Charles Bucknor was a “creative genius” – Nduom

Businessman and philanthropist Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has paid a glowing tribute to ace actor Charles Kofi Bucknor, describing him as a “creative genius.”

The veteran Ghanaian actor died Tuesday aged 64. He was one of Ghana’s most seasoned male actors having staged in movies such as Heritage Africa, Run Baby Run, Elmina, Double among others.

Dr. Nduom, the head of Groupe Nduom said Bucknor was a “friend of truth” and will miss him a lot.

“I wish he had spent more time here on earth for many others to experience his creative genius, not acting, but creating and weaving and delivering greatness. It is this lost opportunity that makes me so sad, sad, sad. Plus the lack of a healthcare system to make us well when our human system breaks down,” Nduom said in a short statement.

Below is the full statement:

I am just sad, sad, sad!

It has taken me a while to write this. Charles Kofi Babatunde Bucknor, painter, artist, writer, actor, wordsmith, APSUNIAN, Fantsenyi, patriot, father, husband, lover of life, friend of truth, and many others, is gone.

About a year ago, I asked Kofi to come up with a concept for my 2016 presidential campaign. So he brought me something. (Many others I asked did not come back. Some did not want to be painted PPP. Even though I had assured them I had come to them because of their expertise in economics, strategy, agriculture, etc.) I read and I watched what Kofi had brought to me. And I told him immediately that I liked it. He asked again, and again, in Fante if I wanted something to be changed. I said no, it was perfect. I added that his genius was showing. He smiled that smile. Then he walked that happy walk. This was someone who could deliver great things given the opportunity to use his creative talent. I am glad for the opportunity to tell him that he was good.

I wish he had spent more time here on earth for many others to experience his creative genius, not acting, but creating and weaving and delivering greatness. It is this lost opportunity that makes me so sad, sad, sad. Plus the lack of a healthcare system to make us well when our human system breaks down.

To his wife, Ewuresi, his children and his family, my sympathies.
There is a lot I wish I could write or say now, but can’t or shouldn’t. But, such talent and a great love and flair for life!

Kofi, write a play and give it to God. Ask St. Peter to choose some actors, professional and amateurs and I bet we will hear the applause here on earth!

Me Nua, Rest in Peace!

(Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom)
