Two persons have been shot dead at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Accra, following an alleged financial dispute involving a GH¢500,000 debt.
The deceased have been identified as Irene Atuguba, 47, and her uncle, George Atuguba, 57.
In a press release dated October 30, 2026, the Accra Regional Police Command said the Baatsona Divisional Police Command had commenced investigations into the incident.
According to the police, officers from the Sakumono District Police Command were dispatched to the residence after receiving information about the incident on Friday, October 30. They found the bodies of the two victims lying in a pool of blood.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the suspect but failed to repay the amount.
The police said the suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, reportedly visited the deceased’s residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni, to demand repayment.
A misunderstanding allegedly ensued during the visit, resulting in the suspect shooting and killing George Atuguba and his niece, Irene Atuguba.
The two victims were rushed to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead by a medical officer.
Their bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The Accra Regional Police Command said efforts were underway to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.
It has also appealed to members of the public with relevant information to assist with investigations.
