Chef Smith admits to using Adu Safoa’s application for Cook-a-thon sponsorship

In a recent interview on GHOne TV with Serwaa Amihere, Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith, made a startling revelation about his method of seeking sponsorship for his cook-a-Thon event.

Chef Smith admitted to copying the application reference documents of fellow chef Adu Safoa to bolster his application.

Chef Smith explained his rationale, citing the influence of previous record-breaking attempts. “After Hilda Bassey did it, I have been thinking about it. And then all of a sudden I decided, after Afua did her sing-a-thon, I decided to make a step. Tracking the history, it has always been sequential, like numbers with the application reference. So I ended up, landing on the application reference of Adu Safoa. And then I built something for myself,” he said during the interview.

Despite his extensive research on the rules and guidelines of the Guinness World Records application process, Chef Smith admitted that he did not have a legitimate application with the organization. “I have read a lot about Guinness World Records. And it’s an application process. When you apply, they will give you an application reference that would enable you to know who is the current record holder and the details. But I don’t have an application with the Guinness World Record. Like I said, I built it on Adu Safoa’s application reference,” he disclosed.

When asked if Adu Safoa had given him permission to use her application reference, Chef Smith confessed, “She has no idea.” This revelation raises questions about the legitimacy of Chef Smith’s cook-a-thon and his decision to proceed without proper authorization.

Serwaa Amihere pressed further, questioning why he chose to start the cook-a-thon without the necessary application. Chef Smith responded, “I don’t know,” leaving viewers and potential sponsors in a state of confusion and concern.

The interview has sparked a significant reaction from the culinary community and the public, with many questioning the ethical implications of Chef Smith’s actions. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this revelation will impact Chef Smith’s career and the future of his cook-a-thon event.
