Government of Ghana has expressed deep concern over the devastating conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has led to a worsening humanitarian crisis and mass displacement of civilians.
A statement by Foreign Affairs Ministry dated Monday, November 3, 2025, condemned the violence, describing its impact as “atrocious,” with millions left destitute, facing starvation, and regional peace under severe threat.
“The Government of the Republic of Ghana has observed, with grave concern, the atrocious effects of the ongoing armed conflict in the Republic of Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has resulted in humanitarian catastrophe including significant loss of lives, and massive displacement of civilians,” the statement read.
The Ministry reaffirmed Ghana’s solidarity with the people of Sudan and called for an immediate, complete, and unconditional halt to all military operations across the country.
It also urged the establishment of safe corridors for the rapid and unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to affected populations.
Government further emphasized the need for strict adherence to international humanitarian law, ensuring the protection of civilians, aid workers, and medical personnel operating in conflict zones.
“There is no military solution to this crisis,” the government stressed, calling on the warring parties to return to the negotiating table to pave the way for a civilian-led transitional government.
Ghana also appealed to regional and international actors to cease all support that fuels the conflict and to comply fully with the UN arms embargo on Darfur.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and democratic governance across Africa, Ghana urged organizations such as the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to intensify diplomatic efforts toward a peaceful settlement.
“The Government of Ghana remains committed to supporting all efforts aimed at resolving the conflict and promoting long-term stability in Sudan,” the statement concluded.
