The member of the communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Ayisi has condemned the conduct of the Democracy Hub members during their recent protest in Accra.
But, speaking on the Weekly Review Segment on Starr FM with Naa Dedei Tettey George Ayisi implied that the behaviour of most of the members of the Democracy Hub was under the influence of drugs.
“I heard somebody say and I am inclined to agree that most of them were on drugs. They had taken drugs and were misbehaving. Drug-induced conducts. That’s what was happening” George added.
He claimed that the protesters assembled to indulge in misconduct, labeling the removal of the police car keys by the leader of Democracy Hub, Vormawor as “ignoble conduct”.
“This is so unsympathetic,” he stressed.
He claimed that the people decided to leverage on the fact that it was a political season to make the government look bad.
“The President took a forceful stand on this. It’s a challenge. So it means you have to be on drugs and get to 37 to misbehave and block the road?
“I am inclined to conclude that they were on drugs okay. Tramol and maybe ‘Ganja’ anything. No sane person will behave the way they were behaving”, he stated
However, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, one of the Defense lawyers in the ongoing Democracy Hub protesters case at the Circuit Court has questioned the “behaviour” of the Police leading to the arrest of over 50 protesters.
While pointing to a Police statement that indicates clearly where the protesters were restricted from assembling (Revolutionary Square) per a Court order and further explained in their own (Police statement) no Court had prohibited the protesters from assembling at 37 Intersection.
He wondered why the Police upon realizing that they were not in approval of 37 Intersection did not go back to the Court to obtain a Court order to restrain the Protesters.
