The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has presented working tools to 70 artisans under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) in the Jomoro Municipality.
The beneficiaries, drawn from across the municipality, included dressmakers, seamstresses, tailors, hairdressers and barbers.
As part of the support package, 25 hairdressers received hairdryers, 20 barbers were given barbering clippers, while 25 dressmakers and seamstresses received sewing machines and other tools to support their work and self-employment efforts.

According to Madam Affo-Toffey, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Transport, the intervention was self-funded as part of her commitment to empowering constituents willing to pursue vocational skills and entrepreneurship.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony on May 25, 2026, she said the initiative was aimed at supporting artisans and apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Programme to become economically independent.

“Today, I am donating these sewing machines, hair dryers, clippers and other working tools to artisans across the Jomoro Municipality under the National Apprenticeship Programme,” she stated.
She described the intervention as a long-awaited initiative that would create opportunities for many young artisans within the municipality.

“This long-awaited intervention brings hope and opportunity to many young artisans and apprentices, reaffirming the government’s commitment to skills development, youth empowerment and self-employment,” she added.
Madam Affo-Toffey further noted that equipping beneficiaries with the necessary working tools would help promote job creation, strengthen local businesses and contribute to economic growth within the municipality and the country at large.

“By equipping beneficiaries with the necessary tools to work and earn a living, the initiative will promote job creation, strengthen local enterprise, and contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of Jomoro and Ghana at large,” she said.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to support vocational training and empower young people with practical skills to improve livelihoods and reduce unemployment.
