Power outages also known as ‘dumsor’ claim two lives at Chereponi District Hospital, highlighting the severe impact of the country’s long-winded challenges in the energy sector
The hospital has been without electricity for two weeks and patients’ survival is in a balance.
Speaking to Channel One news, the hospital’s staff urged the government to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
“The light has caused a lot of problems in our lives. Just three days ago, we lost two people due to the power outage and there is some CS too, they are supposed to be done but because of the light issue, they can’t carry on those things”, a worker lamented.
He continued “So we appeal to the government that they should do something about it. And we, health workers too, don’t feel comfortable here because how to charge our phones is very difficult and our food and everything has been stored. So we appealed to the government to do something about it.”
The prolonged power cut in the area has impacted the community at large. As residents grapple with processing the food with electricity.
