The Dzolu community in the Oti Region is set to receive a major boost in educational infrastructure as a sod-cutting ceremony was held to begin construction of a new three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities. The project, funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), is estimated at ₵700,000.
The ceremony, held at the heart of the community, brought together the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Park-Davies Mayigbe, the Chief of Dzolu, traditional authorities, officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES), community members, and other stakeholders.
The initiative, which falls under the leadership of the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, forms part of ongoing efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning in Dzolu.
Speaking at the ceremony, the MCE, Hon. Parke-Davies Magyigbe, emphasized that the project is part of the government’s broader plan to address infrastructural deficits in the area. He said the new classrooms would help reduce overcrowding, improve academic performance, and motivate both teachers and learners.
The Municipal Director of Education, Madam Sophia Ako, applauded the initiative, noting that the project is timely and critical in bridging the educational infrastructure gap in the region. She assured that once completed, the facility would significantly enhance teaching and learning outcomes in the Dzolu community.

The Chief of Dzolu, Nana Tebulebu Omandzi the second, Gyasehene of Dzolu-Buem, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community. He noted that the new school block would relieve congestion in existing facilities and inspire both teachers and pupils to give their best. He encouraged the community to support the contractors to ensure timely completion and proper maintenance of the project.
The contractor has assured that the three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities will be completed within six months.
The project contributes to the broader vision of the MP for Buem, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, to transform the educational landscape of the Oti Region and ensure access to quality education for children in even the most remote communities.
