The Ministry of Education has strongly condemned the violent incident that occurred at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, describing the act as criminal and unacceptable.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apak, issued on Wednesday, August 5, the Ministry said it views the disturbance as “reprehensible and criminal,” stressing that violence and lawlessness have no place within Ghana’s educational institutions.
The Ministry disclosed that the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to immediately investigate the incident and ensure that all individuals found culpable face the appropriate disciplinary sanctions in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the education sector.
“The Ministry considers this act of violence and lawlessness as reprehensible and criminal. Such conduct has no place within Ghana’s educational institutions and will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” the statement said.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline in schools, noting that discipline remains the cornerstone of quality education.
It also assured the public that it would continue to work closely with the Ghana Education Service and other relevant state institutions to uphold discipline, protect school authorities and students, and ensure that educational institutions remain safe environments for teaching and learning.
