Election Hub: Theresa Lardi Awuni wins Okaikwei North Constituency

Incumbent Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North constituency, Theresa Awuni, has secured her seat for the second consecutive term, defeating her opponent, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This victory solidifies Awuni’s position as a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics.

Awuni, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), garnered 28,363 votes, significantly surpassing her opponent’s 20,627 votes. Abdul Hamidu Ibrahim Futa trailed behind with 470 votes .

Theresa Awuni’s win is a testament to her dedication to the constituency, which has historically been an NPP stronghold. Her initial victory in 2020 marked a significant shift, with Awuni securing 51.07% of the votes against Fuseini Issah’s 47.52%

Awuni’s re-election underscores the constituency’s growing confidence in the NDC. With her proven track record, Awuni is poised to continue advocating for the needs of Okaikwei North residents.

Election Results Breakdown:

  1. Theresa Lardi Awuni (NDC): 28,363 votes
  2. Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei (NPP): 20,627 votes
  3. Abdul Hamidu Ibrahim Futa: 470 votes.
