Ebi Bright of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won the Tema Central parliamentary election with 18,539 votes, narrowly defeating her rival, Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 18,421 votes.

The razor-thin margin underscores the fiercely competitive nature of the race.

This win marks a significant achievement for Bright and the NDC, as they successfully unseated the NPP in this crucial constituency. Bright’s victory is seen as part of the broader momentum that helped propel the NDC to success in the 2024 elections.

Bright’s triumph was mirrored by a strong performance in the presidential race.

The NDC’s candidate, John Dramani Mahama, was declared President-elect by the Electoral Commission, securing 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of the total valid votes cast.

He defeated the NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who earned 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.

On the parliamentary front, the NDC made significant gains, capturing more seats including key constituencies traditionally held by the NPP.

This landslide victory has reinforced the party’s position and given Mahama a solid mandate as he prepares to lead Ghana once again.
