Former President John Dramani Mahama will on November 23 speak at the Young African Leaders Summit to empower youth on the continent.

The Summit which is a gathering of young people across the continent, aimed at collating ideas from Africa’s finest youth figures that will be aggregated into relevant themes for shaping policies on the continent will see the ex-president serve as an inspiration to participants.

The summit will also be a platform for cross-country idea-sharing and assimilation and an opportunity to bridge identity gap that is often perceived to exist within the youthful population of Africa.

Also present at the summit will be special representatives from international agencies including government officials from both local and foreign countries as well as some members of the Diplomatic Corps.

The event which is scheduled to take place in Ghana at the Accra Digital Centre will engage participants in cultural exchange, networking, panel discussions on leadership, entrepreneurship, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), creative arts, digital innovation, focused group sessions, working in teams, complex and time-pressured contexts.

The idea is to create a platform where participants would converge to discuss and formulate solutions to some of Africa’s pressing and emerging problems.

The event which is organized by the Young Politicians and Leaders (YPL) Network, promises to be educative and engaging as well as present an opportunity for the voices of the youth to be heard.

In an interview, Mr. Patrick Fynn, Programmes Director and Convenor, he said the Young Politicians and Leaders Network is managed by a team of experienced, vibrant, dynamic, and committed young professionals and leaders is a global movement of young change agents dedicated to training its cohort to take up leadership roles to influence the future of Africa and the world in general.

He was quick to add that the organization is “not a political organization and it is not affiliated to any political party and we do not project any political parties’ agenda or align with any political party.”

He said: “We are a registered company in the UK and Ghana and operate as a non-governmental and non-profit organization. We have a goal of nurturing, providing mentorship and strategic leadership training to aspiring young leaders in areas of politics and diplomacy, student leaders, social movement activists, aspiring young entrepreneurs or young entrepreneurs, empowering women and facilitating the holistic development or progression of the youths or next generation of leaders at all levels. Young Politicians & Leaders Network plays a crucial role in the economy of Africa.”

Speakers for this summit include Chief Moomen, (Playwright & Creative Playwright), Prince Kojo Hilton (Arts Director), Arnold Asamoah Baidoo (Journalist), Naa Ashorkor (Actor), and Cynthia Quarcoo (Corporate Lawyer).

Others are Santokh Singh (Multimedia Group Managing Director), Emmanuel Addo (YPLN), Peter Kodjie (AASU Secretary General), Isaac Sesi (Engineer), Ameyaw Debrah (Blogger) and Ernestina Appiah (Ghana Code Club).
