Ghana’s women and youth in agriculture are set to receive a major boost as the Eligreen Women and Youth Agribusiness Exhibition Summit (EWAYES 25) kicks off on October 13-14, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The summit, expected to gather more than 5,000 participants, aims to tackle barriers that have long constrained smallholder farmers, women entrepreneurs, and youth-led agribusiness startups; chief among them limited access to capital, markets, and modern technology.
Organised by the Eligreen Agribusiness Hub in partnership with Ghana EXIMBANK, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industries, and the Presidential Initiative in Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA), the event is endorsed by President John Mahama.
With the theme “Breaking Barriers: Securing Market and Financial Access for Women and Youth in Agribusiness,” the summit places women and young people at the centre of Ghana’s agribusiness transformation.
“By empowering women and youth in agribusiness, we are strengthening food security, creating jobs, and building climate-smart rural economies,” said Hon. Sophia Karen Edem Ackuaku, founder of Eligreen Agribusiness Hub and former MP for Domeabra-Obom.
The agribusiness sector in Ghana was valued at US$12 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach US$18 billion by 2030, according to Eligreen Agribusiness Hub data. Experts say removing obstacles for women and youth could unleash unprecedented economic growth, reduce rural poverty, and curb urban migration.
The two-day summit will feature policy dialogues, exhibitions, B2B forums, panel discussions, mentorship sessions, digital training clinics, and field visits, all designed to connect farmers, processors, exporters, investors, and policymakers.
A key highlight will be the introduction of solar-powered processing units and irrigation systems, advancing climate-smart agriculture in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 5, 8, 13, and 15.
Organisers expect that by the end of the summit, over 70% of participating women and youth will have started or expanded profitable agribusinesses, gaining access to finance, technology, and formal markets.

With its broad participation; ranging from agripreneurs and international buyers to policymakers and donor agencies; EWAYES 25 is being positioned as a national platform to unlock opportunities and drive inclusive growth.
“This is more than just a summit; it’s a national platform to unlock opportunities, share knowledge, and connect stakeholders across the entire agricultural value chain,” Ackuaku emphasized.
By prioritising women, youth, and persons with disabilities, the summit supports Ghana’s industrialisation and economic transformation agenda, while promising a brighter and more inclusive future for the country’s agribusiness ecosystem.
