The Ghana National Gas Company Limited (Ghana Gas) has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between its Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, and the Board of Directors, describing the claims as false and intended to create unnecessary tension within the company.
In a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Richard Kirk-Mensah, the company said recent social media publications alleging a feud between the CEO and Board Chairman, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, were baseless and should be disregarded.
According to management, the relationship between the Board and Management remains cordial and is built on mutual respect, professionalism, trust, and a shared commitment to achieving the company’s strategic objectives.
“The suggestion of infighting or discord within the leadership of the company is baseless, exaggerated and should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” the statement noted.
Ghana Gas also addressed concerns surrounding a recent staff promotion exercise that has attracted public commentary. The company explained that the promotion of 50 employees formed part of an ongoing effort to address long-standing issues related to career progression, staff advancement, and divisional restructuring.
Management stated that the promotions were the result of extensive consultations and deliberations and were carried out with the knowledge and support of the Board of Directors.
The company further rejected assertions that it is experiencing operational difficulties, insisting that such claims are being propagated by individuals seeking to undermine the progress made by the state-owned energy firm.
Highlighting recent achievements, Ghana Gas revealed that its production throughput has increased from an average of 100 million standard cubic feet per day to approximately 120 million standard cubic feet per day. According to the company, the increase has strengthened fuel supply to downstream consumers, improved national energy security, and contributed to greater stability in the country’s power sector.
Management also cited improvements in plant availability and operational efficiency, which it said have helped moderate fuel costs for power producers and industrial consumers.
Ghana Gas reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with its Board of Directors to uphold transparency, accountability, good corporate governance, and operational excellence while pursuing its mandate of supporting Ghana’s energy sector.
