The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), is set to participate in a crucial international mining conference in Australia, starting Wednesday September 3.

The high-level engagement will host experts and captains of the mining and extractive industry across the globe.

Dubbed the Africa Down Under (ADU) Summit, Ghana’s Minister for Lands and Natural Resources will make a formal presentation on why Ghana remains the ideal destination for mining in Africa and the West African sub-region.

He will also shine the light on the friendly investment climate in Ghana, and why the country remains a fruitful hub for mining, being the leading producer of gold in Africa.

The Minister’s engagement is expected to attract the needed investor support to accelerate Ghana’s mining fortunes and expand the country’s frontiers in mineral extraction and value addition.

Confirming the Minister’s itinerary, the Director of Communications at the Lands Ministry, Ama Mawusi Mawuenyefia, indicated that the three day conference will also create the platform for the Ministry to forge newer connections with development partners on the world’s global mining scene.

The Minister’s delegation to this all-important summit includes officials from the Ministry as well as representatives from the Minerals Commission.

About the Africa Down Under Summit (ADU)

ADU is the leading forum for Australian-African business and government relations and was first launched to raise awareness of Australia’s interests in African mining and energy.

This annual summit has evolved to become the largest African-focused mining event held outside the continent itself which is reflected by the number of high-profile participants who attend each year.

Since its inaugural conference in 2003, ADU has showcased many success stories about Australian companies and organisations working across Africa.

In addition to creating a melting pot for pro Africa-Australia relations, ADU forms the principal pillar for “Africa Week”, Australia’s week long celebration of the strong and growing business, social and cultural ties between Australia and the entire African continent.
