The National Director of Communication for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah says he has been discharged from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where he was receiving treatment.
Mr. Ahiagbah survived a lorry accident at Aduapompo near Konongo in the Ashanti region a few weeks ago.
The accident occurred around 1:30 am on the Kumasi-Accra highway while Ahiagba was driving alone from Accra to Kumasi.
Eyewitnesses suspect that he fell asleep at the wheel and collided with an articulated truck, severely damaging his vehicle and leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
In a tweet on X, Mr. Ahiagbah thanked the doctors who took care of him and Ghanaians for their prayers.
“I am out of the hospital today with a few more knots to untie, but I am back on my feet again. Thank God almighty, and thank you all for your prayers and support.
“To the dedicated team led by Dr. Charles K. Dally, the catalyst; Dr. Otu Boateng, the signature man; Dr. Roland Azorliade, the wise one; and Professor Peter Ambe, latter-day addition to the team and the host of nurses, I say God bless you for doctoring and nursing me back onto my feet.
“To Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), led by the dynamic Prof. Addai-Mensah, I owe a debt of support and advocacy to ensure that KATH continues to improve healthcare outcomes for Ghanaians”, the NPP Communicator Director stated.
He pledged to contribute his quota for improved health care in the country.
“Fighting to hold on to dear life at KATH has been very frightening and painful. But through it all, I have learned firsthand the extreme deficiencies and prospects of Ghana’s healthcare delivery system. From this experience will arise a Turning Point Foundation to promote a people-centered, outcome-driven health policy regime in Ghana. May God bless and deliver us all from evil”, he concluded.
