Former Black Satellites captain Douglas Nkrumah has denied reports of him being involved in an alleged assault of a referee leading to a 12- match ban in Nigeria.
The former Kotoko and Hearts of Oak star who plays for Ifeanyi Ubah is reported to have suffered the hefty punishment to add to the club’s N750, 000 fine for a reported encroachment in the highly tempered clash with Niger Tornadoes staged in Lokoja.
But Nkrumah who was said to be on the bench was mistakenly mentioned in a list he has no idea
“Anybody who has followed me in my playing days from Power FC, Kotoko, Hearts et al have never seen me confronting a referee in my life so my club officials are even surprise to this decision because on the said day I was on the bench’”, he told Starr Sports.
“This is the video of the incident so why will I be banned”, he added.
Douglas Nkrumah is joined by five other club mates in Stephen Eze, Adeleye Olamilekan, Micheal Egbeta, Uchenna Godfrey Junior and Kone Soumaila.
Club secretary Chidi Nwogu and kit man Adirika Obiefuna are also banned for the next 19 NPFL games.
The bans will be carried to next season but start right away.
