The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has expressed admiration and goodwill for Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, praying that she may one day become Ghana’s first female president.
The remarks came during a visit by the Vice President to the Ministry of Education in Accra, where Mr. Iddrisu welcomed her warmly, acknowledging her historic achievement.
Reflecting on their time together in government, the minister praised Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s consistent commitment to education and gender issues.
“I can say without contradiction that you remain an unfashion champion of education and gender rights and gender interest and inclusiveness generally in the pursuit of government policy,” he added, highlighting her dedication to inclusive governance and policy advocacy.
He further extended prayers for her health and longevity, hoping that her future could include the presidency.
“It is my prayer that Allah will give you long life and good health, that probably you will be envisaged to become the first female President. I pray that Allah grants you strength,” Mr. Iddrisu said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who previously served as Minister of Education, made history after the 2024 general election as Ghana’s first female Vice President, a milestone celebrated by colleagues and citizens alike.
This visit not only underscored the respect she commands among her peers but also highlighted the aspirations for greater female representation at the highest levels of Ghanaian politics.
