Judge Sedinam Awo Kwadam Makes History as First-Ever LLM Valedictorian at GIMPA

In a resounding celebration of academic excellence and resilience, Her Honour Judge Sedinam Awo Kwadam (Mrs) has been named Valedictorian of the 2025 Master’s Cohort at the 25th Congregation of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Graduating with an exceptional Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.98 on a 4.00 scale, she has set a new academic record, the highest GPA ever attained in the LLM programme’s history at the institution.

Her honour also becomes the first Master of Laws student to be named valedictorian at GIMPA, further cementing her place in Ghana’s legal and academic history. This new milestone follows her earlier distinction as Best Student in the Law of Evidence during her Call to the Bar in 2012.

Delivering her valedictory speech before an audience of academic leaders, faculty, families, and fellow graduands, Judge Kwadam offered a deeply reflective and inspiring message rooted in humility, gratitude, and purpose.

“We have struggled, but we have also prevailed,” she declared, recounting the sacrifices and challenges faced by her cohort—from balancing full-time work and enduring intense traffic to confronting academic pressures and tight deadlines.

She described the past year as one of “intense intellectual challenge and transformation,” shaped by rigorous research, critical discourse, and policy debate. Yet, at the heart of her message was a call to service: “The degrees we have earned today are not mere credentials; they are a summons. A call to lead with courage, compassion, and conviction.”

Judge Kwadam spoke passionately about the responsibility graduates bear to effect positive change—through leadership, mentorship, sustainability, and ethical enterprise.

“True success lies not only in personal achievement but in the positive change we ignite,” she emphasized, anchoring her message in GIMPA’s values of excellence, integrity, and service.

Her remarks were also deeply personal.

“This Green Hill has been more than a place of learning for me; it has been a sanctuary of healing,” she said, alluding to years of illness and personal loss that preceded her academic journey.

She credited the institution with restoring her sense of purpose, and expressed heartfelt thanks to her family, faculty, and to God.

Her Honour Judge Sedinam Awo Kwadam’s academic distinction, eloquence, and inspiring journey have not only marked a historic moment for GIMPA, but have also underscored the power of perseverance, intellect, and service in leadership. Her words and example will no doubt echo far beyond the walls of the auditorium, inspiring the next generation of legal and public service professionals across Ghana.
