King Paluta’s management has officially petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board, demanding an explanation for what they describe as an unjustified snub of the artist’s hit song, Makoma.
In a letter dated March 18, 2025, and addressed to the TGMA board, the management team expressed disappointment that Makoma, which they believe was one of Ghana’s most popular songs during the year under review, was overlooked in all the categories it was submitted for. These included Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year (King Paluta).
“This concern has become necessary after the team realized none of the categories we submitted the said material for was considered after the official nominees announcement,” the statement read.
King Paluta’s team emphasized their confidence in the TGMA board’s competence but insisted on receiving a “convincing reason” for the exclusion. They also reassured that Makoma did not breach any moral or ethical standards and expressed their willingness to engage further for possible reconsideration.
The petition has sparked conversations among fans and industry stakeholders, with many awaiting the TGMA board’s response.
