A final-year science student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SECTECH) has sustained serious injuries after being attacked with a machete during an ongoing interschools sports competition in Koforidua.
The victim, identified as Jerome Appiah, was allegedly attacked by a form two student of New Juaben Senior High School while eating at an eatery near the stadium where the competition is taking place.
According to eyewitness account, the suspect was accompanied by an accomplice, but both fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Jerome Appiah reportedly suffered a deep machete wound to the shoulder and bled profusely. He was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital by the police with assistance from a teacher, where he was stabilized and admitted for further treatment.
The suspects are said to have gone into hiding, and police investigations are currently underway.

Confirming the incident, the Headmaster of Koforidua SECTECH, Mr. Emmanuel Bedjabeng Frempong, said the police are actively investigating the matter.
He added that students of the school have been cautioned to remain calm as authorities work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
