Entertainment critic David Agyei Frimpong, known in Showbiz as MC Portfolio, has described the unity and camaraderie displayed at Kweku Smoke’s concert in London as a positive sign of growth for Ghana’s music industry.
Ghanaian hip-hop artiste Kweku Smoke successfully headlined a concert at the O2 Electric Brixton in London, thrilling patrons with a catalogue of his biggest hits. The event also featured guest performances from several Ghanaian artistes, including KiDi, Oseikrom Sikanii, and Flowking Stone.
One of the biggest highlights of the night was the surprise appearance of Shatta Wale and Sarkodie, two of Ghana’s most celebrated music exports. Their performance generated excitement among fans and industry observers alike.
The appearance was particularly significant given the reported tensions that previously existed between Kweku Smoke and Shatta Wale. However, following the successful show, it appears the differences between the artistes have been put aside.
Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy, MC Portfolio said the concert reflected a new direction for the Ghanaian music industry.
“It signified growth and the real essence of show business. It’s a new wind blowing, where Ghanaian artistes have realised that they need to move beyond the complaints and make meaningful moves,” he said.
