LPG PC promises ultramodern abattoir for Asawase

Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) in the Asawase Constituency Naomi Nsor is promising to build an ultramodern abattoir for the constituency should the electorates give her the nod come December 7, 2024.

She gave the assurances when she took her turn at the campaign dialogue platform MOUNTED BY THE Asokore Mampong Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education.

She finds it unreasonable that the constituency lacks an abattoir of its own when residents of the Zango dominated constituency play key roles in the meat industry either raring cattle; working in slaughter houses, selling animals or as truck drivers caring in cattle.

“All the major drivers who travel to bring in animals for slaughter come from this constituency but the biggest abattoir, ‘Mayanka’, is in Asokwa. Our people go there to work, all the taxes are taken in Asokwa to develop the place while all that revenue could have been earned here to develop this constituency,” she argued.

Sports Development

Naomi Nsor further promised to build at least three astroturf pitches within the constituency to identify and develop youthful sports talents.

She argued that the Asawase Constituency has been treated unfairly after producing a number of football talents for the country’s national football team.

“Several electoral areas do not have any fields for recreation and sports. Dogo Moro park is now in a mess. The astroturf at Akurem is now a pile of gravels. But look in the Black Stars and even the history of the team and you will find a lot of players who came from our Zango communities,” she recalled.

Naomi Nsor criticized the Incumbent MP Hon. Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka for not developing the Constituency after serving almost two decades in parliament.

Gender Stereotyping

Naomi urged the constituents particularly persons from northern and Islamic extraction who form the majority, to let go of the deep seated gender stereotypes that favor men over women vying for leadership positions.

“Many of our people in our Zango communities don’t want a woman leading but I think the perception should change to accommodate us,” she admonished.

NCCE Engagements

Asokore Mampong Municipal NCCE Director Matthew Agbenu indicated that the commission attached a lot of importance to such dialogues aimed at educating the masses to make informed choices at the polls.

He told Ultimate News, the platform mounting engagements is relevant to deepening civic involvement and participation in Ghana’s democratic governance.

Meanwhile the incumbent member of parliament seeking a sixth term on the ticket of the opposition NDC Hon. Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka and his close contender from the governing New Patriotic Party, Manaf Ibrahim failed to turn up for the occasion leaving many electorates dissatisfied.

The event was a two-way debate between Madam Naomi Nsor and the Independent Parliamentary Candidate for the Asawase Constituency Rafik Alhassan.
