Luxury menswear and accessory line, ‘Adinkra Republic’ has officially been launched, with its founder Agyeman Senkyire promising to use a percentage of proceeds to support the autism campaign.

The ‘adinkra’ symbols branded socks makes use of an array of bright colors with motivational quotes embroidered on to make the product unique and appealing.

According to the founder, the aim of producing the brand was to make Ghanaians across the globe remember their roots.

Speaking at the official launch Wednesday, Mr Senkyire said “I wanted to make sure we didn’t forget what our forefathers left us, which are these symbols. So what I did is to connect the dots between the traditional way of doing things and the modern way of dressing for most of the kids in the diaspora.”

“So I came up with the concept of socks, why socks? I thought about taking the concept of the symbols and putting it on something that we all wear each day. Every sock comes with a quote on it to inspire,” he detailed.

He revealed that he is looking to secure partnership in Ghana to build a factory in a bid to create local jobs.

He explained “our socks are made colorful for a reason, because we support autism. And people who have had autism talk about the spectrum of colours. So we wanted to do something that really gave back to autism.”

“It’s said that 1 in 20 kids in Ghana is diagnosed with autism, 10% of our proceeds in Ghana will go back to the autism foundation,” he said.

About Adinkra Republic

The founder has a vision: To share with the world his rich and deep roots of wisdom by bringing the Adinkra Symbols to the world. Adinkra cloths were traditionally only worn by royalty and spiritual leaders for special occasions.

The arrival of the Adinkra in Akan culture, Ghana, West Africa, seems to date as far back as 1817. The Adinkra symbols express various themes that relate to the history, beliefs and philosophy of the Asante. They mostly have rich proverbial meaning since proverbs play an important role in the Asante culture. The use of Proverbs is considered a mark of wisdom. We liked that.

We have created a brand to give you that royal feeling with each step. Each pair of Adinkra Republic socks is designed with an explanation of the symbols in an inspirational quote that reminds you to stay true to the symbol’s true definition.

We differentiate ourselves by bringing you colorful design product, with the highest quality, creativity and craftsmanship. Adinkra Republic features a wide range of Model and designs inspired by the Adinkra Symbols, using a broad spectrum of color combinations hand-picked by our team of fashion expects. Our socks combine comfort, quality and style, with vibrant designs.”
