The office of the former President, John Mahama, has indicated that the only remunerations the statesman gets are from pensions drawn like every worker in Ghana.
Speaking on GH Today on GHOne TV on Wednesday, the Special Aide to the former President, Joyce Bawa Mogtari intimated that contrary to the false claims about what the former leader received as ex-gratia, a one-off payment of about GHc250,000 was paid as ex-gratia to him.
“He receives GHc22,000 and a little above that which is his pension every month, then as a lump sum as ex-gratia, he received a one-off payment of about GHc250,000 and a little and that was about it,” she told host Serwaa Amihere on Wednesday.
She described it as mere propaganda and lies claims that Mr Mahama received millions in ex-gratia payments, adding “Surprisingly I’m yet to receive any evidence that Ex-President received all those monies in 2013.”
Meanwhile, former President John Mahama has accused the Akufo-Addo led-administration of refusing to give him his entitlement as the former leader of the country.
According to him, the government has denied him the privilege of enjoying free utilities among others which he’s entitled to by virtue of the fact that he once occupied the highest office of the land.
The office of the former President last week rejected claims that he took GH¢ 14 million as ex-gratia payment in 2013.
A statement signed by the Special Aide to the former President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari clarified that the former President “never took any such ex-gratia payment of GH¢14 million in 2013 or at any other time during his 25 years of service.”
The office was responding to the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC’s allegations.
