The former SRC President of Methodist College of Education and Founder/CEO of the MALT Foundation, Bismark Offei Bekoe has emerged as a vocal advocate for clean politics in Ghana.

With the National Union of Ghana students (NUGS) gearing up for elections, Mr. Bekoe has taken a strong stance against dirty politics and negative campaigning.

He urges all aspirants to abandon such practices and instead focus on presenting their policies and qualifications to the delegates.

Furthermore, Bekoe calls upon the delegates themselves to be vigilant in their selection process, prioritizing competence over personal attacks. These efforts aim to enhance clean politics in Ghana and create an environment conducive to effective governance.

He further expresses that, Ghanaian politics has often been plagued by personal attacks, character assassinations, and the dissemination of false information. Bismark Offei Bekoe recognizes the damaging effects of these practices on the democratic process and the nation as a whole. He appeals to NUGS aspirants to rise above such tactics, emphasizing the importance of presenting their policies and visions for the union rather than engaging in mudslinging. By focusing on substantive issues, aspirants can contribute to a more constructive and meaningful political discourse.

Again, Bekoe encourages NUGS aspirants to adopt a policy-driven approach to their campaigns. He emphasizes the need for aspirants to understand the challenges faced by Ghanaian students and develop well-researched policy proposals to address these issues. By showcasing their understanding and proposing viable solutions, aspirants can demonstrate their competence and dedication to serving the interests of Ghanaian students. This approach not only enhances the credibility of the candidates but also helps to elevate the political discourse.

In addition to urging aspirants to practice clean politics, Bismark Offei Bekoe emphasizes the critical role that delegates play in upholding clean politics. Delegates are the backbone of the electoral process, responsible for electing candidates who will serve the interests of the student body. Bekoe calls upon delegates to be vigilant and discerning in their evaluation of candidates. He advises them to prioritize competence, integrity, and policy proposals over personal attacks and negative campaigning. By doing so, delegates can contribute to the cultivation of a political landscape that values meritocracy and ethical leadership.

Mr. Bekoe’s advocacy for clean politics goes beyond the NUGS elections. He believes that promoting clean politics in the student union is a crucial step towards building a nation that embraces transparency, accountability, and effective governance. By emphasizing the importance of issues-based campaigns and responsible leadership, he hopes to set a precedent for future politicians to follow. Bekoe’s vision is to see a Ghana where clean politics becomes the norm rather than the exception, resulting in a government that prioritizes the needs of its citizens and fosters national development
