Round 16 of the MTN FA Cup took place this weekend at the various venues.
Defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak in dramatic style eliminated Elmina Sharks 10-9 on penalties at the Accra Sports stadium.
Hearts of Oak scored their first goal in the 31st minute kind courtesy a towering header from Isaac Mensah. Ishmael Antwi Howe’s equalised for Elmina Sharks just two minutes after recess.
In the 77th minute, Ishmael Antwi scored his second to take the lead for Sharks. However, Kofi Kordzi restored parity after Patrick Razak was brought down in the box. Hearts won the penalty shootout that followed.
Two-time Ghana Premier League champions, Aduana Stars are also through to the next round of the FA Cup after a slim home win over Berekum Chelsea at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa.
On the 52nd minute, Abdul Manaf Mudasiru scored the opener for the hosts which eventually became the only goal to secure them a ticket to the quarter-finals stage.
Aduana Stars, Hearts of Oak, King Faisal, Dreams FC, Tamale City, Bechem United, Skyy FC and Kotoku Royals have qualified for the next stage.
