As the yuletide approaches, telecommunication giant MTN Ghana has presented an amount of Gh¢30,000 to the management of the Kumasi Children’s Home.
The donation which will be paid through the MTN Mobile Money platform was accrued from proceeds of the MTN Ghana Stands in Worship concert 2019.
According to MTN, they believe the exercise will go a long way to support the running of the home and other ones across the country, which will receive similar donations.
Speaking to Ultimate News’ Patricia Ama Bonsu on Wednesday, Acting General Manager for MTN Ghana, Northern Sector Simon Amoh stated: “Not too long ago, we had the Ghana Stands in Worship Concert in Accra and the promise to the patrons was the fact that gate proceeds from the event were going to be used to support charity. In line with whatever was realized, it’s been spread institutions like the Kumasi Children’s Home and others that are being done elsewhere. We give them mobile money of Gh¢30,000.”
“Once more it is Christmas time; Christmas is about love and one thing symbolic about love is giving, so there is the need for us to come back here and show the inmates of the Kumasi Children’s Home our Y’ello Love.”
Touching on the choice of the Kumasi Children’s Home, as a beneficiary, the Ag. Gen. Mgr explained that they received a request for help from the facility and others.
On her part, Manager of the Kumasi Children’s Home, Mabel Pinamang Amponsah on behalf of the Department of Social Welfare, the management and staff and the children expressed gratitude for MTN’s kind gesture, revealing it could not have come at a better time.
She urged other individuals, corporate bodies and institutions to emulate the MTN Ghana example.
The Kumasi Children’s Home located in the Ashanti region is currently a safe haven for some 77 children from just 3 days old and have been abandoned, went missing, children whose parents are serving prison terms, orphans, children of mentally challenged mothers and kids who have been diagnosed with HIV and have no family support.
