The Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency and Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has called on Muslims across Ghana to use the Eid-ul-Adha celebration as an opportunity to promote peace, unity and compassion among all people.
Speaking in a broadcast video, the Interior Minister urged Muslims to pray for global peace, particularly for stability in conflict-prone areas around the world, while also asking for continued peace in Ghana.
“It is our prayer that the world will be at peace. May our country, Ghana, remain peaceful,” he said, adding that Allah should accept the prayers and sacrifices of Muslims and use them to bring harmony and forgiveness to humanity.
Alhaji Muntaka described Eid-ul-Adha as a sacred period of sacrifice, togetherness and unity in Islam. He encouraged Muslims to support the poor and vulnerable by sharing meat from sacrificed animals with needy families within their communities.
“We are supposed to spread kindness and support the poor and needy in our communities. Let us remember the orphans and be supportive of one another,” he stated.
The Interior Minister also appealed to young people, especially within Zongo communities, to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions that create disturbances during the festivities.
He advised community elders to guide children and youth to ensure that activities associated with the celebrations are conducted peacefully and decently.
On environmental sanitation, Alhaji Muntaka cautioned residents against indiscriminate disposal of waste generated during the slaughtering of animals.
He urged Muslims to protect the environment by keeping gutters and surroundings clean to prevent pollution and health hazards.
“As we slaughter our animals, let us protect the environment and avoid choking gutters and creating environmental problems in our communities,” he stressed.
The Asawase MP further prayed for students writing examinations, workers and families across the country, asking Allah to grant them wisdom, protection and prosperity.
He also called on Ghanaians to continue praying for the leadership of the country, stressing that patience, hard work and truthful service to the nation were essential for national development.
Alhaji Muntaka concluded by wishing Muslims around the world a peaceful Eid celebration and prayed for Allah’s guidance and blessings for all humanity.
