The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has acknowledged receipt of a petition filed against its Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, over allegations of gross misconduct and violations of the Party’s Constitution.

In a letter signed by William Yamoah, Director of Finance and Administration, on behalf of the General Secretary, the Party confirmed that the petition has been noted and referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC) for consideration and further action in line with the NPP’s constitutional procedures.

“The content of your petition has been noted and shall be referred to the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for appropriate consideration and further action per the Party’s constitutional procedures,” the letter stated.

The petition was filed by Hon. Kwesi Poku Bosompem, Chairman of the Tema West Constituency.

In recent weeks, Abronye DC has come under fresh internal scrutiny within the NPP after the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, formally petitioned the party’s National Disciplinary Committee against him. The petition cites acts of gross misconduct, including defamatory remarks against senior party member Kennedy Agyapong and false allegations against the General Secretary himself.

Abronye is accused of misrepresenting confidential party reports and making public claims that were inconsistent with the official findings of the disciplinary committee, actions the leadership believes undermine party unity and discipline.

The party’s leadership has since referred the petition to the disciplinary committee for further investigation and possible sanctions. According to the petition, Abronye’s conduct amounts to gross indiscipline, damaging the NPP’s cohesion and public image. The move highlights growing tensions between the Bono Regional Chairman and the party’s national executives, who say his actions breach the standards of behavior expected of a member of his stature.

In response, Abronye has accepted the summons to appear before the disciplinary body, but has demanded that the proceedings be broadcast live. He insists that an open hearing would allow party members and the wider public to witness the issues at stake, particularly his claims about Kennedy Agyapong’s conduct.
