The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the rollout of enhanced security protocols designed to protect the integrity of Ghanaian passports.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the measures are intended to guarantee that only eligible Ghanaians are issued passports.
“We are determined to ensure that only eligible Ghanaians are issued our high-value passports,” Ablakwa stated.

He explained that the move comes after Ghana recently secured exclusive diplomatic privileges for its passport holders, including ten visa waivers and the reversal of U.S. visa restrictions.
These benefits, he noted, have increased the passport’s appeal to individuals who do not qualify to obtain it.
“We shall not allow such nefarious schemes to succeed,” the Minister stressed.

The new security measures were introduced at a meeting attended by passport administration officials, including national management, regional directors, private partners, consultants, and courier companies.
