A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, Hamza Suhuyini Esq., has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of using a flawed and “reckless” perspective to evaluate the performance of the Mahama administration.
Speaking on GhOne TV’s GHToday on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Suhuyini argued that the main opposition party remains blinded to positive developments because they continue to view national progress through the same lens of “incompetence” that characterized their own time in power.
The Communications Team member did not mince words regarding the NPP’s track record, suggesting that the opposition’s inability to acknowledge government successes stems from a fundamental bias.
He asserted that the NPP has historically been not only incompetent but “reckless” in its approach to governance
“The NPP’s problem is that in the last eight years, we accused them… of not being only incompetent but reckless. The problem, however, is that even in opposition, they still seek to assess the performance of this government with that incompetence and reckless spectacle or perspective,” he said.
Suhuyini maintained that while there is always room to further empower local producers, the public should not ignore the significant strides made in stabilizing economic indices and reducing the prices of essential goods.
He noted that the government remains open to constructive calls for better positioning of producers, but rejected attempts to downplay current interventions.
“If you’re calling on this government to look at ways to empower producers… fair call, government will listen. [But] do not seek to discount the interventions as far as our economic indices are concerned as far as reduction of prices are concerned,” he said.
He further challenged the opposition to adopt a more objective standard of evaluation.
He suggested that as long as the NPP maintains its current “specs of assessment,” it will remain incapable of recognizing the positive impacts of the government’s economic policies on the lives of Ghanaians.
“You will never see anything good about the government until you change your specs of assessment,” he added.
