Over 1,000 members and supporters of the 2020 independent Parliamentary Candidate and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Assin South Constituency of the Central region, have defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and have promised their allegiance to Ntim Fordjour.
They alleged that John Mahama is yet to clarify his stance on the Free Senior High School Policy.
Emmanuel Asamoah Boahen, the campaign manager for an independent candidate, and Emmanuel Tamakloe, the ex-independent campaign coordinator are among those defecting.
According to Emmanuel Tamakole, the former Independent Campaign Coordinator, the MP for Assin South Constituency, Rev John Ntim Fordjour has proved in his second term that he can deliver which is why they are supporting him.
“We have seen the good works of Hon Rev John Ntim Fordjour and we can witness the developmental projects he has brought to Assin South, the unemployment rate at Assin South has been reduced with the help of Hon John Ntim Fordjour, that is why we are supporting him to bring more projects to Assin south constituency”, they told GHOne news Yaw Boagyan in an interview.
Some of the defectors also said they thought joining the independent candidate and the NDC party was what they wanted but they have realized that clearly, nothing good will come from joining the independent candidate and that Hon John Ntim Fordjour is the right candidate for Assin South.
“Hon Ntim Fordjour has proved that he has the welfare of the people truly at heart, he has helped improve the road networks in Assin South, has helped people with appointment letters, improved the educational sector in the Constituency and many other things to talk of so we are going to vote for him on December 7th to continue the good works for Assin South to Develop”.
