Managers of some state institutions are expected to be grilled on their operations from today, Tuesday April 25,  as the Public Accounts Committee of parliament begins sitting.

The committee will consider several reports submitted to parliament by the Auditor General.

According to the Chairman of the committee, James Klutse Avedzi, they will be looking at four reports— the Bank of Ghana’s forex exchange transactions, the performance report on disposal of government vehicles by Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Ghana Health Service as well the performance report on drug use in Ghana by the Food and Drug Authority.

Standing Order 165 of Parliament assigns to the Public Accounts Committee, PAC, the examination of the audited accounts showing the appropriation of funds granted by Parliament to the government.

In the wisdom of Parliament, the PAC is one of the only two committees of the House chaired by a member from the minority side of the Legislative body. This is to deepen the mandate of the committee in scrutinising properly, the audited accounts of government institutions.
