Mahama’s excellent performance in 120 days making ‘nonsense’ of previous governance — Krontihene of Akyem Asuom

The Krontihene of Akyem Asuom in Eastern Region, Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III, has heaped praises on President John Dramani Mahama for what he describes as an “exceptionally good” start to his return to power.

The Krontihene believes the president’s performance in his first 120 days signals a brighter future for Ghana and makes a mockery of poor governance witnessed under former President Akufo-Addo.

Speaking to Journalists in Kade at the sidelines of the Confirmation of MCE nominee on Wednesday, Nana Obodade commended President Mahama’s early achievements and leadership style, stating that the president is already setting new governance benchmarks for the country.

“So far so so so good. Some of us stood on platforms. Got on social media, did a lot of campaigns. Braved the threats, the insult because we knew what he was about. We knew then what people know now. He is performing excellently well. Sometime back, people were comparing the former President to President Mahama. In just 120 days I can tell you with confidence and without mincing words that President Mahama is a million miles unreachable when it comes to a scale of who is better as a President. He is simply setting the records. He is simply getting the template on how to rule a nation and of course (excuse my language) making nonsense of how not to rule a nation as what we experienced some time back”.the traditional leader remarked.

The Krontihene noted that many critics of President Mahama, especially after his 2016 electoral defeat, have now been proven wrong as the president steadily restores confidence and hope in the nation’s leadership.

He went on to liken President Mahama’s leadership trajectory to that of Osagyefuo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, suggesting that if the current pace continues, Mahama could be remembered as “the Nkrumah of our times.”

“We thank the good Lord for bringing him back. I remember when in 2016 he lost then a lot of things were said about him, he went through a lot of stress but the good Lord who blesses abundantly has blessed him in such a manner that his enemies has now put to shame. He is now comparable to the Great Osagyefuo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah just like I said I said I hope that by the time President Mahama’s term ks over we will compare him to Osagyefuo at least he will be Dr. Kwame Nkrumah”.

Nana Obodade also predicted a long-term political dominance for the NDC, describing the party’s “Reset Ghana” agenda as a national vision that transcends a single term of office.

“When President Mahama is done serving his second term, many Ghanaians will contemplate urging him to continue to stay in power I am pretty sure that is what is going on in the minds of many”.

He added, “The NDC agenda to reset Ghana wasn’t just based on the four years. It is an agenda that will go beyond 2028 and I can foresee that after 2028 Ghanaians will give the NDC another 20 years to build upon the good works. Resetting is just the foundation. We will go vertical afterwards and when we do that after 2048 I am sure out brothers from the other side will come with someone better”.
