Abdul Aziz Isah, Bright Kankam Boadu and Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah dominated the headlines after winning the key awards at the 49th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards, which was held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The awards scheme, which is the longest-running event in the country, was held to award the sportsmen and women who contributed immensely and brought honour to the country in the year 2024.

With Ghana’s vice president Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang in attendance along with other dignitaries, including the Sports Minister designate, Kofi Adams, boxing legend Azumah Nelson amongst others, the night witnessed deserving sportsmen and women awarded for their stellar performance in 2024.

Ghanaian athlete and high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah was the biggest winner on the night as she won the Sports Personality of the Year award along with the Athlete of the Year award(Female)
Meanwhile, Black Starlets and Barcelona athletic star Abdul Aziz Issah took home the footballer of the Year award as well as the Discovery of the Year.

Bright Kankam Boadu picked up the biggest award of the night for journalists as he won the sports journalist of the year award.
