Lawyers for Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, have issued a legal notice directing individuals and media organisations to immediately cease the publication and dissemination of what they describe as false and defamatory allegations linking him to an alleged GH¢200 million scandal.

In a statement dated August 5, 2026, the solicitors said they were acting on the express instructions of Hon. Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., following the circulation of claims on traditional and social media platforms alleging that one Dominic Bonsu was his bodyguard and had absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the Ghana Gold Board.

The lawyers categorically denied the allegations, describing them as “entirely false, malicious, reckless and devoid of any factual or legal basis.”

They consequently placed all individuals and entities on formal notice to immediately desist from originating, publishing, republishing, transmitting or otherwise disseminating the claims in any form.

According to the legal notice, Sammy Gyamfi has never met, known, engaged or maintained any personal or professional relationship with Dominic Bonsu.

The lawyers further stated that Dominic Bonsu has never served as Mr. Gyamfi’s bodyguard, personal security officer, employee, agent, representative or associate.

They also rejected claims that Dominic Bonsu absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the Ghana Gold Board, describing the allegation as false, fabricated and without any factual or legal foundation.

The statement added that neither Sammy Gyamfi nor the Ghana Gold Board entrusted, transferred or paid GH¢200 million, or any other public funds, to Dominic Bonsu.

It further maintained that any publication suggesting that Mr. Gyamfi authorised, facilitated, participated in, condoned or benefited from any alleged financial impropriety is false, defamatory and actionable.

Addressing reports concerning Dominic Bonsu Ventures, the solicitors said the mere fact that the company may have held a licence issued by, or was regulated by, the Ghana Gold Board does not establish any personal, professional or business relationship between Dominic Bonsu and Sammy Gyamfi.

The lawyers warned that every fresh publication or republication of the allegations would constitute a separate actionable wrong, adding that publishers, broadcasters, editors, administrators and anyone involved in disseminating the claims could be held personally liable.

They also stated that attributing the allegations to third parties or relying on information obtained from social media would not constitute a legal defence against the publication of defamatory material.

The legal team indicated that Sammy Gyamfi has instructed them to commence all necessary civil proceedings against any person or entity that continues to publish or republish the allegations, including claims for general, aggravated and exemplary damages, injunctive relief, legal costs and any other relief available under the law.

The notice said it was issued without prejudice to all rights and remedies available to their client.
