The Opposition National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Shai Osudoku Constituency, Hon. Linda Obenewa Ocloo has begun securing insurance and licenses for 2,500 Okada riders in the Constituency.

According to the MP, the poor nature of roads in the constituency make Okada an ideal transportation service which facilitates the mobility of the constituents, therefore, the need to secure license and insurance for the riders as efforts are underway to construct the roads.

She said the insurance is critical due to the accident risk associated with Okada to ensure that injured persons are cushioned for their medical bills.

“I took upon myself to secure licenses and Insurance for the almost 2,500 Okada riders in this constituency. So far we have provided 500 Okada riders with insurance. The insurance has a cover of Gh3000 so in case of an accident the person will get insurance cover of Gh1000 if injured or Ghc2000 if the person unfortunately dies”

The MP revealed this when she threw a party for children, widows and the aged
and other target groups including taxi and Okada riders at her residence in Dodowa to mark the new year.

The MP who is a widow in addition donated bags of rice, cooking oil, among other items to Widows in the constituency.

She also donated a total of sixteen cows to communities zoned to organize a feast.

“I gave all 16 zones a fat cow each in addition to Rice and cooking oil to throw a party to residents in the communities. Linda Obenewa Ocloo, gave away items worth millions of Ghana Cedis as a way of showing love to the women, the aged and thanking God for the New Year”.

Obenewa Ocloo reiterated her commitment to improving the living standards of the constituents which she said could be facilitated if John Dramani Mahama wins power in 2020.
