Staff of the Compliance Department of Stanbic Bank Ghana have donated a sum of GHS 20,000 to the Marian Kwofie Foundation to support the tertiary education of needy but brilliant young girls in Ghana.

Akosua Asaa Yelbert, Head of Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering, at Stanbic Bank, presented the donation on behalf of her outfit. She mentioned that the donation was in in line with the bank’s mission of driving national growth through quality education.

She said, “At Stanbic Bank, we do not only focus on providing solutions to our valued clients but also on providing solutions to the many challenges in the communities we find ourselves. As a department, we searched for an area to support and knew that the Marian Kwofie Foundation would be the best. Marian Kwofie was a former member of staff of Stanbic Bank who was very passionate about giving and supporting women and young ladies in any way she could.  We are proud to be making this contribution today to honor her legacy and support the efforts of the foundation to help young women in the country, especially with their education.”

“I am grateful to all the members of the compliance department who gave generously to make this donation possible. Although the Marian Kwofie Foundation is new, we believe in its capability to contribute to the development of the country by supporting young girls in need. We are proud to be supporting them at this stage and we will continue to contribute to their efforts whenever the need arises.”, she continued.

Barbara Okai Tettey, Senior Manager, Compliance at Stanbic Bank also added that, “It is impressive to see how they are reaching across to the northern regions in Ghana and seeking out ways to provide young ladies from there with access to quality education and we are proud to support their efforts.”

A trustee of the Marian Kwofie Foundation Ayesha Abukari, received the donation and thanked the team from Stanbic Bank for their kind gesture. She said, “The Foundation is a legacy project to sustain the good work that Marian Kwofie had begun during her lifetime. Her selfless support for women and girls will be continued through this foundation. We are grateful to the team from Stanbic Bank for this generous donation.

“The funds they have provided today will create a lasting impact on the lives of brilliant young girls to further their education to the tertiary level. We are truly grateful to them for their donation. I encourage other departments and organizations to keep us in mind as far as their CSR activities are concerned. With their support, we can touch the lives of women and young girls around the country.”

The Mariam Kwofie Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization that aims to provide opportunities for young women from less privileged or deprived homes to change their life trajectories by providing them with scholarships to pursue tertiary education.
