The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has confirmed the deaths of a senior lecturer and his teaching assistant following a fatal road accident at Third Ridge on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway.
The victims, Dr. Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang and Peter Amoadu-Asmah, died in the crash, which the university described as tragic and deeply distressing.
In a statement dated Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the university said it received the news with “profound shock and deep sorrow.”
Dr. Agyemang, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, was described as a dedicated academic with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service.
Mr. Amoadu-Asmah, his teaching assistant, was a National Service Person and a recent graduate of the same department, where he reportedly emerged as the overall best graduating student.
“The late Dr. Agyemang, together with his Teaching Assistant, Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah, lost their lives in a tragic motor accident at Third Ridge, on the Cape Coast–Accra highway,” the statement said.
Management of the university extended condolences to the bereaved families and the academic community, urging the public and media to handle the matter with sensitivity.
