The Ministry of Youth and Recreation has tied the long-term future of new Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz to the team’s performance at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Ministry has indicated that any decision to retain Queiroz beyond after the mundial will depend entirely on the milestones that the team will attain during the tournament.
Technical Advisor to the Sports Minister, Betty Mensah Krosby, to Starr Sports, that the veteran Portuguese tactician is essentially on a performance-based trial on the world’s biggest stage.
”We’ll use the World Cup to assess the new coach, Carlos Queiroz, for possible retention,” Krosby revealed.
Queiroz, who has a storied history of qualifying multiple nations for the World Cup, now faces the task of ensuring his tactical philosophy yields immediate results.
With his remuneration still under discussion, this performance-based ultimatum adds an extra layer of pressure on the former Manchester United assistant.
