Zoomlion Ghana Limited has pledged its full support for the government’s National General Clean-Up Exercise, announcing the deployment of sanitation personnel, equipment and logistics to assist flood-affected communities across the country.
The company said it welcomes President John Dramani Mahama’s declaration of Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, as National General Cleaning Days for regions affected by recent floods.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Zoomlion described the President’s directive as a “bold, timely, and decisive intervention” that demonstrates strong leadership and a renewed commitment to protecting lives, safeguarding public health, and restoring environmental sanitation.
“As Ghana’s foremost waste management company and a trusted partner in environmental sanitation for over two decades, Zoomlion Ghana Limited is fully prepared and committed to supporting the successful implementation of this important national exercise,” the company stated.
According to the statement, the company has, following discussions with the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, activated its nationwide operational network, placing its regional, district and municipal offices, fleet of equipment, logistics and personnel at the disposal of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and affected communities.
As part of the exercise, Zoomlion said it will deploy sanitation personnel to support coordinated clean-up activities, provide waste collection trucks, skip containers, compactors and other heavy-duty equipment, and evacuate and safely dispose of waste and silt from designated collection points.
The company also announced plans to desilt drains and waterways to improve water flow and reduce the risk of future flooding, while sweeping and cleaning roads, markets, lorry parks, public spaces and drainage channels.
Additionally, it said flood-affected public areas would be disinfected and sanitised to minimise the risk of disease outbreaks, while technical and operational support would be provided to MMDAs and other stakeholders throughout the exercise.
Zoomlion further assured the government that its intervention would continue beyond the two-day national clean-up where necessary, working closely with relevant authorities to restore affected communities to safe and healthy conditions.
“The devastating floods have once again reminded us that environmental sanitation is a shared national responsibility,” the company noted, stressing that preventing future disasters requires sustained collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, traditional authorities, civil society organisations and citizens.
The waste management company also appealed to residents, businesses, institutions and community leaders to actively participate in the exercise to help restore communities, protect public health and build a cleaner and more resilient Ghana.
The National General Clean-Up Exercise forms part of government efforts to address the aftermath of recent flooding and strengthen environmental sanitation measures to reduce the impact of future disasters.
