Ghana has taken delivery of more than 1.2 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine donated by the United States of America.

The vaccines arrived at the Kotoka International Airport Saturday morning.

The Ambassador to Ghana  Stephanie Sullivan, Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Health Mahama Asei Seini, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong and the UNICEF Country Representative to Ghana Ms. Anne-Claire Dufay received the vaccines at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport.

Delivered through COVAX, the donations are part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s global efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Ghana’s Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service will oversee vaccine distribution nationwide.

On Aigust 31, the Director of Communication at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin noted President Akufo-Addo is dispatching a flight to Germany to take delivery of one million, five hundred thousand (1,500,000) doses of Astra Zeneca vaccines donated to the country by the German government.

Addressing the Presidential Press Corps at  the Jubilee House, Mr. Arhin says following President Akufo-Addo’s meeting with the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, during his just ended visit to Germany, the German govern has donated 1,500,000.00 doses of AstraZeneca to the country.
