C/R: Police arrest notorious armed robbery gang

The police at Winneba in the Central region have arrested a notorious armed robber and his gang.

The robber Osmanu Ibrahim, 22, who has been under police surveillance for over a year now is seen by the police as the face behind the numerous robbery attacks in the area.

He is said to be terrorising students of the University of Education and others in the area robbing them of their valuables .

He and his gang were arrest at the Winneba Zongo by the police following a tip off.

Many items were found in the posession of the nine robbers during the swoop .

It includes laptops , television sets , mobile phones, decoders , cocoa spraying machines, money , tools they use for the operation and other items .

Some substances suspected to be cocaine and marijuana were also found on them.

Some other individuals suspected to be engaged in criminal activities in the area were also rounded up by the police in the swoop yesterday.

Winneba police commander Superintendent Godfred Tettey Agyirako who confirmed the news to Starr News’ Central regional Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour urged the public to volunteer information to the police so that all criminals in the area will be arrested to make the place more congenial for habitation .

Informants, he added will be protected and so the public shouldn’t be afraid to step out to provide vital information to the police .

The public ,he said,  are crucial in effecting arrests since they live with the criminals in their various communities and they can help track such criminals down through useful tip offs .
